Once a year, my high school friends and I gather. Not just any high school friends, this is a philosophy group born out of an elite, brain-stretching school, where we all scattered into different industries over the decades: professors, executives, entrepreneurs, consultants, owners.
These evenings are a mix of wine, warmth, and words that spiral into high-level philosophical debate. They feed my brain as much as they feed my soul.
It was one of those nights. We were in a cosy garden-floor meeting room, glasses in hand, minds in motion. Then, somewhere between Aristotle and dessert, one of them said something quickly, almost in passing:
“Di, do you use Vtorpti?”
“What?”
“Vtorpti.”
“What??”
“Vtorpti.”
“What??”
“CITIPITI’’
I stared at them. “What language are you speaking? CITIRIPITI? ”
They laughed. “No, no, we mean ChatGPT.”
Ah. That was the moment. The acronym landed like a pebble in my glass of wine, and the ripples haven’t stopped since.
Up until then, AI had been a headline, a background hum. But here, in the company of people I have known for half a century, I realised — this isn’t the future arriving someday. It is here. At our table. And I needed to learn its language.
This is Critical
The most important revolutions aren’t always announced on the news. Sometimes they’re slipped into conversation among old friends, disguised as a strange word you can’t quite catch.
Takeaway for Leaders
Stay curious. Stay open. The next big shift may come from the mouth of someone you’ve known forever — and it might change the way you see the world.
That lovly night with friends, the fruity glass of wine, and ChatGPT – is amoment of change frozen in time… until the end of all times…
